PLANTING
When planting, the area should be prepared first by removing any weeds (if necessary) and then digging a hole just deep enough to ensure that it will hold the entire root system (potted or rootballed) without leaving any of it exposed above ground. A suitable compost should then be spread in the hole and once the plant has been inserted the soil should then be backfilled, ensuring that it is firmed down sufficiently to eliminate any pockets of air. This is extremely important, as any trapped air can potentially cause diseases to occur and the plant to die. We use Cedar Nursery (Cobham) for our plant supplies, as they offer a quality product and have an excellent knowledge base.
